FriendShifts..
If malacca was a women, id marry her...Those we the very words Fung Siang said to me as we drove down Goldsmith street yesterday. We were on a quest to find him Wan tan Mee .. or something else he was craving for but was not sure of.. at close to 11.30 in the morning.Malacca brings back mixed feelings to me.
Yesterday my best childhood friend got married. Kim and I met on the very first day of school. I sat across her and she was the first person i ever made friends with that i can remember. We were best friends growing up, we were extreemly close. I remember finding the least excuse while i was in primary school to go over to her house. I remember her great grandfather very well and will never forget his famous "devil curry"We continued to be classmates all our primary school life and also most of our secondary school. Even when we were in different classes in form 4 Kim spent most of her time in 4Sc and 5 Sc so much so some of our teachers were confused :) Being friends was an easy matter when u were younger, you tend to think things will never ever change, You have notions that u will be friends forever and ever. I remember the days kim and I would sit at Lorong 25 or was is 27 by the sea and talk about everything. We did talk about our weddings too, naturally being giddy teenagers :)
Yesterday as I sat watching her from afar walking down the isle with Neil I could not help but think how did we fall apart, how did something so insignificant tear a friedship that had lasted for close to 13 years. Then it struck me...
We change , people change, at every stage in life our wavelenghts change, our Karmic patern changes as well, sometimes you cant comprehend how people you know and love just drift apart for no rhyme or reason. But all said and done you know it has happened for the best. Sometimes the seperation is temporary like what i hope happen with Kim coz honestly gal when i saw u yesterday i felt like nothing had changed:) and sometimes it is permanent .. like when a group of my gal friends form school turned around when they saw me coming to their table ( hope the karmic bond there had totally ended because the least a grown up 28 year old women can do is be civil) .And sometimes we form new conections ( like how i met kims workmates and totally had a good time with them) And sometimes they last a long long time ( like Daniel Lim Fung Siang - who i really really love , and never judges me at all and made everything seem okie last night with our interesting trip to the town)
So make friends.. love...and fight... and break up ... and do it All over again ...because all the soul wants are these experiences... and when you look back at everything that has happened you will always see that It has happened for the best ...
